Home to Badrinath (one of the Char Dham shrines), Hemkund Sahib, Joshimath, and Gopeshwar. Features the Valley of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), Auli (a popular skiing destination), and Roopkund Lake.

Chamoli district shares both an international border and several internal domestic borders.
